As cool as a very good, tight punk rock band with the same angst and energy that Iggy Pop used to have when he first belted out "Search and Destroy!"

First up, I want to say I don't know where the hell I was but this album came out in 2000 and I just got it last week. I've heard a few bumbles and grumbles about this band but for some reason I didn't think to check them out until I heard "Hate to Say I Told You So" on a College Radio Station. When I heard "Hate to Say I Told You So" for the first time I thought it was The Stooges for a second and I knew I had to check these guys out.

Veni Vidi Vicious has all those old punk ingredients, it's perfectly mixed, lots of distortion, tons of screaming, and songs that barely last two minutes(the whole album is under half an hour). The Hives have been getting a lot of hype, lumped along with the Strokes and the White Stripes as the saviors of rock n roll. I don't know about that but If you like gritty punk with a ton of attitude this album is for you.
